Barrington, Rhode Island - Chilean Andres Ducasse sailed a steadily consistent regatta en route to victory at this year’s Sunfish North American Championship. 2nd place finisher Ivan Eduardo Aponte-Taboas from Puerto Rico trailed by just 1 point at the end of the series. However, Ivan did win the Youth North American Championship just 3 days earlier. Former North American Champions Bill Brangiforte and Doug Kaukeinen finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively followed by 3-time World Champion Malcom Smith of Bermuda in 5th place. 99 boats competed at this year’s regatta and all sailors were treated to a factory tour at LaserPerformance on Friday evening.
